Many of the East Asian countries had been organizing EMDR Therapy training from early years of 2000 and most were supported by EMDR Europe of Humanitarian Assistance Program of Europe. Their trainings are of high standards and they have some of their own trainers and consultants and some are in the process of training. Since 2014, during the 2nd EMDR Asia conference, EMDR Asia board decided to follow The Global Alliance recommended basic minimum standards of EMDR Training and to bring uniformity and set standards for the members of EMDR Asia. Therefore, EMDR Therapy part 1 training was organized by HIMSI Jaya, EMDR Association of Indonesia for 2 purposes:
- To try testing the EMDR Asia training standards, using the EMDR institute manual and its applicability in Indonesia.
- To help the local trainers and trainers in training to understand and seek supervision while using the training curriculum and methodology used.
Dr. Sushma Mehrotra supported the training.
