About EMDR Psychotherapy Training

EMDR Psychotherapy Basic/Standard Training is delivered in two parts (Part 1& Part 2). Each part comprises: 10 hours lectures, 10 hours supervised practice and minimum of 10 hours supervision/consultation. Sessions combine lectures, video demonstrations and supervised practice in small groups — designed so learning moves from Model to mechanism/ methodology, to hands-on applications.

A minimum of ten hours of case consultation with an approved EMDR consultant, completed after each part of the Basic/Standard Training, is required to receive the Certificate of Completion.

Eligibility:

    • Part 1: Candidates enrolling should be post-graduates of regular courses from mental-health or social-science faculties — including psychology, psychiatry, human development and psychiatric social work — from a UGC-recognized university with Internship. Individuals completing their PG courses from private institutes, from a university not recognized by UGC, or from PG courses without internship and practical experience should not apply. Selection is at the discretion of the expert panel based on academic performance at the post-graduate level.
    • A note on personal readiness: EMDR Therapy Training involves practice with self-experience for the understanding of EMDR Therapy procedures — participants work on their own issues, symptoms and memories. This is not a role-play and can at times lead to a mild to moderate level of disturbance. “If you have been, or are currently, under medical and/or psychological care, kindly consult your treating doctor or therapist about your readiness for undergoing EMDR Therapy Training.”
    • Part 2: The candidates should complete Part 1 and 10 hours of consultation from an EMDR Asia recognized and assigned consultant.

    Important:

Attending the complete course — theory, practicum and supervised consultation — is mandatory for receiving the Certificate. The Certificate of Completion will be issued only after Part 2 of Basic/Standard training and 10 hours of case consultation, with written case reports showcasing efficacy in practicing EMDR therapy, are approved by the consultant.
Participants unable to complete the course requirements within 2 years after the training will not receive the Certificate of Completion and will have to repeat the entire Basic/Standard
    EMDR Training.

100% Attendance throughout the training is compulsory, failing that amounts to re-registration for the new training. This is to maintain continuity of the practicum

This EMDR Basic/Standard training and Completion Certificate are recognized and accepted within the geographical limitations of Asia as per the local policies. Participants are expected to enroll for the training organized by their local National EMDR Association. Candidates residing outside India must seek written permission from their local EMDR association to apply for this training.

Please Note: “If you have been, or are currently, under medical and/or psychological care, kindly consult your treating caregiver about
Your readiness for undergoing EMDR Therapy Training.”

This training, being experiential with an inbuilt practicum, is more suited to learning EMDR Therapy. Personal therapy sessions can be availed after the training with your own therapist or available EMDR therapists listed on the website.

Any participant with health concerns — for example pregnancy, neurological impairment or condition, or recent traumatic events — who is unable to be in the role of a client must inform the facilitator prior to the practicum on Day 1, so additional care can be arranged.
